PRIME – Primary Information
and Media Education

Every child deserves the tools to make sense of the digital world

PRIME is a two-year European project funded by Creative Europe that brings Media and Information Literacy (MIL) into primary schools.

Today, many children encounter digital media and information from a very young age. However, Media Information Literacy is rarely part of primary curricula in Europe. PRIME responds to this gap by creating practical tools and training that help teachers introduce MIL across subjects in ways that fit their classrooms.

This two-year European project combines the strengths of:

  • Media literacy and fact-checking experts who understand how misinformation works.

  • Pedagogical innovators designing new ways to teach critical thinking.

  • Primary schools across Europe testing, adapting, and bringing these ideas into the classroom.

Over two years, PRIME will:

  • Create a flexible framework for MIL in primary education, aligned with EU strategies like DigComp 2.2 and the Digital Education Action Plan.

  • Train 50 teachers in 10 schools across Spain, Finland, Belgium, Austria and Germany.

  • Build a toolkit in 7 languages with activities and resources any school can adopt.
