It’s International Women’s Day!

On International Womens Day, Lie Detectors celebrates its extraordinary team of female leaders.

Our founder and Executive Director Juliane von Reppert-Bismarck; our Operations Director Marielle Combe; Annkatrin Kaiser who heads our training in Germany and currently heads our International Programming team; our Belgium lead Lies Feron; our Senior Advisor on educational development Annemieke Akkermans, and Anna Slojewska spearheading our work in Poland.

This senior team is backed by the important work of Nele Bauwens, Julia Bebernik, Jade-Ihintza Droneau, Ruxandra Manea, Cecilia Millar-Rakisits, Marica Taime Rauschnick, Esther Read, Sinem Sahin and Cindy Mireya Sanchez Fernandez.

Beyond our offices, the women driving our extraordinary regional work and super-training include Ann-Kathrin Horn, Julia Kuttner and Aurore Vaucelle. Overseeing our work, a huge thank you to our board members Karin Christiansen, Divina Frau-Meigs and Monique Goyens, as well as to our alumnae Charlotte Carnehl and Adeline Brion who were pivotal to our starting years, to Margit Langenbein, and to the Wyss Foundation for putting its faith into our work.

This post would get very long if we included the hundreds of female journalists and newsroom leaders who have taken Lie Detectors into classrooms and teacher-training seminars – we raise a toast to you today.

This community of women has moved mountains over the last seven years in the fight against disinformation and the drive to provide media literacy for all.

There are many things to worry us in our world. But today it's worth remembering that a few short decades ago, this sort of impact by this sort of female lineup would not have been possible. It is progress worth celebrating. Happy International Woman's Day, everyone!
